Metro North Amputee Service

Healthcare service for people within the Metro North Hosptial and Health Service area who have had an amputation. Services include:

• healthcare management from pre-operative stage, post amputation rehabilitation and consultation throughout the lifespan for non-prosthetic and prosthetic aspects of amputee care
• provision of interim prosthetics and initial gait training/rehabilitation.

Behavioural Emergency Response Team (BERT)

Support service for people in the greater Brisbane area with intellectual and/or neurodevelopmental disabilities with complex, challenging behaviours. The team's purpose is to help patients avoid:

• unnecessary emergency department admissions
• extended inpatient stays.

Metro North Brighton Brain Injury Service

Specialist inpatient neurorehabilitation facility that provides comprehensive rehabilitation for patients who have experienced a moderate to severe acquired brain injury.

Metro South Acquired Brain Injury Outreach Service (ABIOS) (inclusive of STEPS)

ABIOS is a specialist community-based service for people with acquired brain injury (ABI) and their families.

The program includes direct client management, education, research and development, and the Skills To Enable People and CommunitieS (STEPS) Program.

STEPS is a statewide, self-management-based information and skills-group program for adults aged 18-65 years with adult-onset ABI and their families and friends.

Deafness and Mental Health Statewide Consultation Liaison Service

This service connects deaf and hard of hearing people with culturally affirmative, accessible, and inclusive mental health care throughout Queensland. They provide education and training, consultation services, and support care providers. It's the only service of its kind in Australia.

Medical Aids Subsidy Scheme (MASS)

MASS is a statewide service that provides funding for medical aids and equipment to eligible Queensland residents who have a permanent and stabilised condition or disability. This includes:

• Specialist hospital-based scheme (Cystic Fibrosis Program)
• Queensland HME Subsidy Scheme for Laryngectomy
• Spectacle Supply Scheme
• Queensland Artificial Limb Service
• Mass Palliative Care Equipment Program

Spinal Injuries Unit – Princess Alexandra Hospital

The Spinal Injuries Unit at Princess Alexandra Hospital (Brisbane) is the only specialist spinal injuries rehabilitation unit in Queensland.

People from all over Queensland aged 16 and over, who have a traumatic spinal cord injury or medical condition resulting in spinal cord impairment, can attend this unit for treatment and rehabilitation.

Specialist Mental Health Intellectual Disability Service (SMHIDS)

A statewide service that provides consultation/liaison services to Queensland’s Hospital and Health Service’s Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs Service (MHAODS). SMHIDS supports adults who:

• are aged 18 or older
• are clients of a public mental health service
• have an intellectual developmental disorder with possible or diagnosed mental health disorders.

Mater Intellectual Disability and Autism Services (MIDAS)

Statewide service which aims to improve the health and wellbeing of adults with intellectual and neurodevelopmental disabilities.

MIDAS provide clinical services, advice regarding physical health, and mental health assessment services for patients 16 years or older who have intellectual and neurodevelopmental disabilities.
